At Northwest Christian School we believe that participation in extracurricular activities are an important part of producing a well-balanced child.
Our school offers:
SACSSA Athletics this year was a HUGE success with 4 of our children getting special mentions by SACSSA. 8 of our children received SACSSA National colours and we came home with 21 Medals (10 Gold, 6 Silver and 5 Bronze.)
Our open soccer side was the first team ever to make it to the finals of the Discovery Cup. They were runners up to the German School. They all played like stars and we are very proud of them.
Our team won the Mixed Age B section and 5 of our players received medals for winning in their board position.
The Junior Choir is for Grade 1-2 only. We had three special events this year. For our special Ascension Day Assembly when the whole school came together in our new hall, we sang and introduced the songs:
into our school’s Praise Time repertoire.
We undertook a trip to “Good Companions” at Linden Presbyterian Church and performed a program for the “Grannies and Grandpa’s” there. At first the children were a bit shy to speak to the old people after their performance, but soon little conversations happened and warm hugs were exchanged.
The choir also performed the song “Love Changes Everything” for the “NWCS Has Talent” event and our last engagement will be performing for the Grade 1 and 2 annual prize-giving at the end of the year.
Winter was a very successful season. Our fields were ALWAYS full and both tennis courts were put to good use with Netball taking place almost every afternoon
Cross Country was a wonderful success this year and 2 of our runners competed for their Northern Cluster’s colours
This was our first year in a Hockey League. We managed to enter a Girls and Boys junior side as well as a Girls and Boys senior side. It was a wonderful season and all our teams played very well.
